Year 6, 19/1/11 and 26/1/11

It was great to work with the year 6 students, who have made such good progress with using the different tools in the woodworking sessions. This time I had in mind to create small boxes, practising sawing wood to length and hammering small nails to hold the objects together. We had a campfire too, on which we cooked puff puffs, pop corn and marshmallows. Not everyone made a box. Some were more inventive, creating other objects. One boy made a heart shape for St Valentine’s day. (He said it was for his mum!) I really liked the creativity and camaraderie the Paragon students show. I asked  them what they liked about the sessions and they came up with “being out of school”, “being free”. I was then held to a few promises to finish off a few items whilst they went back in for lunch.
An invention!
