Year 6, Mrs Allen's class

Wed 4th May 2011, year 6:
On a lovely sunny morning we walked our way into the woods, set out a work area. We paired ourselves in two groups. Marcus being the leader of the fire making group and Rachel led the other group making bracelets from coloured threads.  The children were taught how to start a fire, the useful and harmful effects of fire.  Following all instructions, they were able to start their own fire. Rachel taught the five finger weaving techniques.  We then swapped groups and each moment was enjoyable as they toasted marshmallows at the end.
