6A spent a morning learning about rabbits: from the warren to the fire...With 2 groups doing identical activities, we learned about rabbits in the UK, the Romans introducing them, their anatomy-heart, lungs, diaphram, liver, kidneys, the fur, how to keep it, the legs and the saddle/ rump. We also looked at the wood pigeon, plucking the breast and removing the "squabs." We talked about cooking meat thoroughly, handwashing and general cleanliness, before eating the well cooked meat. Whilst we weren't working on the game, we were making magic string, which Barney (Explorer leader) taught.
Everyone got involved with the rabbits, before one or two very politely asked to be excused through feeling a little squeamish, which was quite understandable. We had some good conversations about rabbit birthrate (expontential....maths!) to morals of meat eating (ethics!) Well done everyone...
